A Little About Jess

Born and raised in Northern California, Jess Johnson earned her bachelor's degree in Journalism from Howard University. She is currently seeking representation for her book club fiction / upmarket fiction novel, JOY COMES IN THE MOURNING.

In her free time, Jess enjoys biking around her Los Angeles neighborhood and trying new restaurants.

Jess is a member of the Women's Fiction Writers Association and the Women's National Book Association, Los Angeles chapter. ​JOY COMES IN THE MOURNING was workshopped at the Yale Writers' Workshop in June of 2025.
